SNOW TO HIT UK!

SNOW WARNINGSo we hear that the snow is on the way, Winter 2013 into 2014 is forecast to be “exceptionally severe” with above-average snowfall and plunging temperatures.

Long-range weather forecasts warn of bitter Arctic gales leading to feet-deep snow drifts right up until February.

Snow forecasts for winter 2013 suggest much of the country will be hit by heavy wintry downpours with no let up well into next year so as the UK is once again ready to down tools and stop working! Can your business foot the bill for your staff not being able to get to the office, with the recession just about starting to make a turn for the good it is unlikely that most businesses would be able to suffer such a prolonged absence And disruption to business.

Password Security

We all have passwords for everything we do these days, we’re told to make them complex and then we forget them, so we write them on a post-it note and attach it to our screens! or write it in the back of our diary backwards because nobody else does that and they will never work it out!

Well here’s a novel way of remembering, how about using a ‘pass phrase’ rather than a password… For example ‘Buy 6 eggs on the way home!’ easy to remember, complex to guess and you won’t forget the eggs either!!

Its the Law!

On 26th May 2011 (yes that’s right 2011!) the EU Cookie Law cam into effect, many people were not aware of it, but the law is already in effect in the UK. However The Information Commissioners’ Office (ICO), the UK regulator, gave everybody a one year ‘grace period’ before they start enforcing it.

That grace period expired on May 26th 2012.

From that date, if you are not compliant or visibly working towards compliance, you run the risk of enforcement action, which can include a fine of up to half a million pounds for a serious breach.
